Hello everyone, and Happy February!
January was a bustling month for Gladney with a total of 9 placements!!!!
Among these placements, seven children were born in Texas, while the other two arrived from Alabama and North Carolina. Notably, four of the children had spent significant time with transitional care families before joining their forever families. A special highlight among these placements was a set of twins, counted as two separate placements.
All but two of the placements will likely result in very open adoptions, with the other two birth parents coming in as “drop ins” who, likely because of the quick nature of their adoption plan, prefer to have a very limited relationship with their child’s forever family. The breakdown in the race of the children placed also fell in line with what Gladney has been seeing lately. Four children are Black, three are Caucasian, one is Black and Hispanic, and one is Black and Caucasian. The duration of matches varied, ranging from a little over two months to seven families taking placement with notice of 10 days or less. This trend of swift turnarounds between connection with a birth parent and adoptive parents’ commitment and the physical placement of the child has been consistent for about a year.
One other exciting bit of news: Gladney is growing! Today they announce that Gladney will soon be assuming the staff and programming of Madison Adoption Associates. This means Gladney has more reach and more staff to accommodate more adoptions! You can read more about it here.
We are currently 15th in line!!!
