August was busy and ended up busier than Gladney had expected. They closed August with ten placements! Of the ten, 7 were in Texas, one was in Georgia, one in Pennsylvania, and one in Tennessee. They were able to place with many of their longest waiting families, which is very exciting. Of the ten, 6 were with families who had waited 28 months or longer.
Four of the children were Caucasian, two were Biracial-Caucasian and African American, two were African American, one was Caucasian, Latino and African American, and one was Latino with the birth father’s race unknown. Seven families anticipate open post adoption relationships, one anticipates a semi-open post adoption relationship, and one anticipates a closed adoption relationship with the child’s birth family.
August also followed the trend of short matches. When they average the amount of time that passed between when a family was matched and when they took placement, they get 14.7 days. The shortest match was two days, and the longest was 52 days. They were able to end their Fiscal Year on a strong note. The goal that their leadership set for them was 70 placements–they placed 84.
At present they are working with 41 expectant moms in various stages of their adoption journey.
We are 36th in line.
