Gladney has sustained their busy pace with another whirlwind month. They expected March to be a slower month but ended up with 9 placements!
-Six were in Texas, the others in Idaho, South Dakota and California. Most of the placements were long-waiting families- families waiting 20 months or more, but two were with newer families, one because of specific requests from the expectant parent, and the other because of a more complicated legal situation that required a family who was willing to lean into a high degree of legal risk in the placement with a long revocation period.
-With regards to race and ethnicity, one child that they placed was full Caucasian. Two were Caucasian and Hispanic, two were full Hispanic, three were full African American and one was full Native American.
-Four of the nine were “drop in” placements that they didn’t know were coming until the baby was born! As you can imagine with the “drop ins”, most of their matches were extremely short. A total of six of placements were matched for less than one week prior to placement. The remaining three placements were matched between two weeks and two months. *Because of this continuing trend of quick matches, they are advising all families to keep their files up to date to ensure they are not scrambling to also meet files requirements once matched or have to be passed over for urgent profile opportunities due to out of date requirements.
As of today, they are actively working with 55 women on their adoption plan. As a reminder, these women are at various stages in their adoption process. There are some that have already delivered and completed their adoption plan and others who are still receiving options counseling from their caseworker. Additionally, as of today, they are working with 87 Active, unmatched, and waiting families. We are 52nd on the list.
